Location: TVAS East Midlands (based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire)

Salary (37.5hr p/w): £30,010 to £33,010 (depending on experience)

As a consequence of the increase in our volume of work we are looking at expanding the team of our regional office in Wellingborough, with at least one Site Supervisor and two Archaeological Officers.

Applicants will have an appropriate level of experience for their grade and valid driving licence. They will be competent in carrying out a range of project types, including evaluation, watching brief, and area excavation. Practical skills will include the range of techniques and methods used in commercial archaeology, including recording systems and excavation techniques. Experience of report writing is preferred.

A valid driving licence is essential. CIfA membership is welcomed. Health and Safety training (including First Aid) is preferred but can be provided. Any specialist knowledge is welcomed.

TVAS Head Office (Reading) and TVAS regional offices (Brighton, Taunton, Stoke-on-Trent and Wellingborough) work across most of the UK. Some of this requires away work, with weekly accommodation and subsistence provided.

The role consists of a mixed position including fieldwork and post-excavation with the opportunity to follow projects from the start of the fieldwork to completion of the report, assisting the Site Supervisor/Project Officer during the post-excavation process and completion of the report.

Applicants will have commercial experience, and will be fit, enthusiastic and quick to learn. Practical skills will include the range of techniques and methods used in commercial archaeology, including recording systems and excavation techniques, and an appropriate level of experience for their grade. Applications from newly graduated archaeologists seeking their first job in commercial archaeology will also be accepted.
